Step 7: Choose the WordPress Theme

Now that you have made the layout of your site and you know the features you want to put on your website, you will require a WordPress theme.

You have 2 options; you can opt for a free theme or a paid theme and a web page builder for better custom designs later. The free themes are used by millions of people and it is difficult to differentiate, especially in terms of design, look and feel. Step 8: Basic configuration of WordPress

In appearance, when you click on “widget“, you can then add widgets that will be displayed either on the left of your theme or on the right according to the configuration of your theme. It is called a Sidebar otherwise. You will also have the list of the plugins that you will be able to install.

Steps to Add a plugin

To add a plugin, you have 2 options. Either you find them via plugins tab, “Add new“. Select the desired plugin, Install and activate. You can then configure the module either in “settings” or directly in the menu. A tab with the name of the module will be created basis functionalities of your plugin.

Alternatively, you can search for the module you want via the search engine download and install the files in a zip format.

E) Create an About page

The page is an indispensable page because this is where you will be able to explain who you are, what value you can bring to your visitors and especially why you are legitimate on the subject.

We suggest to take time to write this page and above all display it in all visible areas of your blog.

F) Edit your Profile and Author information

It takes time and research to write the about page. On each article, if you haven’t disabled this specifically, an author box appears with the name of the author and a small description.

This allows readers that came directly to an article to know who they are dealing with, and it helps to humanize your blog.

To edit your profile information, click the Users menu> Edit Users menu. All you have to do is fill in the various requested information such as your biography, your photo, the URL of your other sites and social networks as appropriate.

Step 9: Write your first article

Once you have done all of the above, you can finally write the first article. To create an article, simply click on post> add.

Remember to fill in the following information: the title tag, the meta description tag and the cover photo. Fill in the category of the article as these are very important for SEO.
